A Bit About Lichfield

Lichfield is a heritage city and district in Staffordshire situated roughly 25km (16 miles) north of Birmingham so is convenient for Birmingham City Centre attractions and the National Exhibition Centre. The new M6 Toll also runs down the western side of the district and links the M6 with the M42. It is one of seven civil parishes with city status in England.

You can follow the story of the young Samuel Johnson from his difficult childhood to national celebrity and Dictionary fame at the museum. Experience five floors of exhibits in a beautiful Grade I listed building including period room settings, an introductory film, interactive displays and activities for children.

The National Memorial Arboretum is the UK’s year-round centre of Remembrance. The Arboretum is a unique haven of peace, contemplation and hope for the future. It consists of 150 acres of wooded parkland with 50,000 maturing trees within the National Forest in Staffordshire.Visitors can both enjoy and learn about the trees and their surroundings, and reflect upon their special symbolism. It is a spiritually uplifting place which honours the fallen, recognises service and sacrifice and fosters pride in our country. The Arboretum is part of The Royal British Legion family of charities and is home to the striking Armed Forces Memorial.
